The Works of Benni Jorgensen

While I make my bones on the internet blogging, reporting, researching networking, etc, I recognize that sometimes the “best” is not always the most advanced, but more often the best if simply done ‘the way it used to be’.

I ran across a piece of work made by Benni Jorgensen a few months ago and have been trying to find out more about him and his pipes since that time. Near as I could tell, he did not have his own web site, and yet his pipes were available from a number of different vendors such as Quality Briar, Bisgaard Pipes, Smokingpipes.com, pipes2smoke.com and more. His own internet presence or not, his pipes are well worth the look we are going to give them today.

Because a great deal of his work is done working for W.O. Larsen, not many have heard of Benni Jorgensen although his pipes is smoked and praised all over the world. For the past 30 plus years Benni has been making as one site touted, “some of the finest ‘straight grain’…” pipes out there. But, the times they are a changin’ and Benni is marketing pipes under his own name as well. Starting in 2000, Benni began marketing under his own name and we see more and more of his pipes now than ever before.  These pipes are made in his own workshop, and these pipes are of excellent quality, and at reasonable prices for such highly desired pipes.

Benni’s briar blocks all come from Mimmo in Italy, a world class supplier of briar to world class carvers. In keeping such high quality briar ion hand, even his blasted pipes show no visible flaws, and look so good they are offered in the lightest of stains including virgin finishes. On his blasted pipes, all the stems are acrylic. Also, keep an eye out for special woods used as highlights and accents such as boxwood, rosewood, bamboo. You will also run across alternate materials such as horn and bone.

Take your time and check out just a few samples of Benni Jorgensen’s work.
